Auto Injury

Car accident

Auto accidents are something that can happen no matter what precautions we take. Even a minor fender bender can lead to issues including spinal misalignment, whiplash, or slight dislocations of joints, many of which go untreated. Dr. Jonathan Bright, of Bright Chiropractic, has plenty of experience treating auto injuries around Plainfield, IN.

Chiropractic Care for Auto Injuries

Chiropractors are specialists of the musculoskeletal system. Jarring injuries that impact how our moving components work are right up their alley.

Spinal Misalignment

Normally, our vertebrae and discs neatly stack upon one another to support the spinal cord. But it doesn’t take much to cause misalignment - even just minor impacts or wear and tear can lead a vertebrae astray.

This can lead to discs bulging, becoming pinched, or even rupturing. Misaligned vertebrae can also pinch nerves, leading to numbness, pain, or reduced function associated with that nerve.

A spinal adjustment is when our chiropractor manually adjusts the vertebrae back into place.

Whiplash

Whiplash is when the head is snapped back and forth by rapid acceleration and deceleration. This can cause small ruptures in the soft tissues of the neck as well as misalignments in the bones. A chiropractor is skilled at stretching and pressing the muscles as necessary to improve recovery time and increase mobility sooner.

Joints

Chiropractors have an intense focus on ensuring proper function of the joints Because of this, they are most familiar with the treatments needed to improve mobility that may be lost due to auto injuries, particularly in the neck and shoulders.

Additional Services

The above are just a few of the most common issues that arise from an auto accident. Our practice offers additional services if those may be needed, such as:

Electric Stimulation

By putting an electric current through a targeted muscle, we can control the amount of flexing that is induced. When the current is removed, the muscle automatically relaxes. This treatment can be used for stiff muscles, muscle spasms, or to reduce inflammation on swollen areas.

Taping

Kinesio tape is used to offer the flexibility that is needed, restricting the movement of a part of the body. This allows for some use of the body part without causing further injury.
